Music makes the world go round. Music is the reason why I would rather be blind than deaf. Music is the best and most accurate way of expressing oneself. Music rocks. Music rules. Rock and/or Roll!

An ATTEMPT to describe our sound
The sound of Mitosis has been described as 'White Stripes fused with Badly Drawn Boy with a tinge of Bjorky wierdness'. Interesting! We like Boy's lyrics e.g. "I need a new eiderdown. I want some binoculers." Random, yet so, so meaningful. Our music and lyrics are written very fast, I don't think that you should spend ages making something perfect. What you write first is what you are feeling at the time and should stick. So if I want a cup of tea, I'll write that. Yeah.
The Songs
Up to this very moment in time Mitosis have three songs which they have written along with a cover of the White Stripes, 'We're Gonna Be Friends'. Our songs are named 'The Southerners Rap', 'Life is...?' and 'The Way You Make My Brew'. The White Stripes cover is a cute, happy, friendly song with the sweetest lyrics. They are an amazing band, click on the link below or on the links page for more information. 'The Southerners Rap' was inspired by a trip to Selfridges, where we encountered a real Gook with a mingin' accent, so it's basically about him and our general feelings towards most Londoners, not all! 'Life is...?' goes through all Ilonie and Helen's views on scarily, what life is! It includes lots of hidden messages and wierd similies, it was really fun to write! The song really does not fit into any genre, except kool of course. And finally...'The Way You Make My Brew' is about a guy who doesn't make good brews and us moaning about it, despite the fact that neither of us like tea, but we do!
Our next song is a strange love song, with some great chords it's title is 'I don't know' so when you are asked what your favorite Mitosis song is you can say 'I don't know'!!! It's one of my favourites (Pony)
Hey! We have lyrics to a new tune named 'Pain with no gain', written by Ilonie who one night got all stressed out with a certain guy named Tony so wrote down her plea for peace in Iraq! Something a little serious but close to our hearts!
New songs alert!
First of which is 'Strawberry Flavoured Criminal Damage', a trundling along song with a very rock n roll chorus! The lyrics originated around a pair of trousers but Ilonie does believe there is a meaning, deep down inside the song somewhere lurking in the shadows!
Second of new songs is named 'Take Away' and it's really really good! There's more harmonies in this one too!
192 is another new song, quite short and concise, yet the last line makes up for the lack of length!
Ok, to be honest with you, we write songs so fast that I no longer have time to write a detailed analysis of each set of lyrics so from now on you shall have to be content with reading them and giving them your own interpretation, enjoy!
